I wasn’t sure how to describe how I feel about this book. I skipped some, it just seemed to drag on and all I really wanted was to see what happened with Mare and cal. I enjoyed the ending I just wish it didn’t drag on so long, a lot seemed unnecessary. Glad they got their HEA.

Good but not great

I enjoyed it in parts.. the end was better than the middle for definite.
I'm glad I heard what happened to the characters and finished this series but I did feel like I was just trying to finish this book rather than enjoying it

.. ok got better towards the end

This collection of novellas really renewed my love of the series. You hear a range of perspectives from 5 novellas .
The first 2 chapters is basically Julian just rambing about history (this happens between every novella) Then
1)Queen Correanne's story is the first and its receited by perspective and diary entry's. It's a great insight.

2)Then you get CAPTAIN FARLEE, definitely my favourite. You see her relationship with her father and how the scarlet guard really started and her budding relationship with Shade (my poor heart I, this series)

3) Ash- a new character. This one is definitely skipable as his not actually involved. HOWEVER I recommend sticking through it because it's actually a really interesting side story.

4) Evangeline &Elane. Only stick around if you like the characters. It basically wraps up Evangeline's story line in a very wholesome way.

5) Last but not least of course its back to Mare & Kal.

All in all very interesting highly recommend if you like the world surrounding Red queen outside of the main character.

*no spoilers but an insight*

I wasn't completely sure I'd enjoy the novellas anywhere near as much as the original books but the added short stories provided a satisfying depth to some of the most interesting characters. It was nice to get glimpses into what happened next after the ending of War Storm as well as what the far future looked like. I'd have loved a bit more of John and Maven but that's just personal preference. Written beautifully as always. Highly recommend (once you have read the original book series)

Satisfying and written with great depth
