Summary

If you think you know Francis of Assisi, you're in for a surprise.

Discover the astonishing life of Brother Francis, the fun-loving son of wealth and privilege who gave up everything for the sake of Christ.

As a young soldier, he encountered suffering. As a victim of war, he began a search for inner-meaning that would redirect his life. As a holy beggar, he embraced lepers, shook hands with the Pope, debated a sultan, and touched the lives of millions.

Now the power and passion of one of the world's most popular saints is captured in Brother Francis: The Barefoot Saint of Assisi, an exciting 10-part audio drama from the Augustine Institute Radio Theatre. Quite simply it is a must listen , it brings the life of one of the most referred Saints to life in a truly outstanding production , it tells of his life through family hardship and rejection to becoming devoted disciple of Christ

In terms of dramatised audiobooks this institute is up there with the best in my opinion. In fact it is because if the Augustine institute of theatres (who made this audiobook) that I got interested in dramatised audiobooks in general.

I am a Protestant and find this way of being introduced to the Saints absolutely amazing. Great story telling and very faith inspiring. A great listen if you're on a long car journey or something like it.

A must listen for all Christians

I absolutely adored this radio play production. The wonderful narration compliments the live acting perfectly. I'm very familiar with the story of St Francis but this play really brought it to life in a new way for me.
there are some great names within the cast including David Suchet and Wendy Craig. One memorable moment for me was when St Francis renounces his earthly father declaring ' I acknowledge only our Father in Heaven.
If you love the Saints as I do then this production is a must for you. You won't be disappointed!
