About this listen

A woman determined for a fresh start. A firefighter with nothing to lose. Chloe Daniels has a few new rules after watching her worst nightmare come to life.

Don’t talk to a first responder.

Don’t befriend a first responder.

And most importantly, don’t fall in love with a first responder.

Jobless, heartbroken, and needing to start over, Chloe will need every self rule she has to rebuild her life in a new city. But she’s quickly realizing rules don’t seem to apply to her new sexy neighbor, a Houston firefighter.

Garrett Lynch has never had a problem talking to women. Getting them into his bed? Piece of cake. Until he meets his tempting neighbor who refused to even give him her name. Never one to back down from a challenge, he will have to pull out all the stops just to get her attention.

That is until an arsonist puts both of their lives in danger. Can love conquer all, or will they both get burned?

Burning for Chloe is the second book in the Heroes of Lone Star Series. Each book is a stand-alone with no cliffhangers. Happily ever after guaranteed.

Chloe is starting over. She has had it tough, and now is ready for a new chapter. But living next door to a firefighter is not the best first step. She has no intention of dating a first responder, it is exactly the kind of relationship is needs to avoid. When Garrett gets a look at Chloe, there is something that draws her to him. Never before has he had this and he plans on acting upon it. This challenge is fun and spicy, but when an arsonist starts to light fires in Garrett's district, things become dangerous. Who is behind it? And where will it all lead? I love a good romantic suspense and Elizabella Barker delivers exactly that! The romance is that push pull, the kind I love and it jump starts the heart and warms the soul. Then comes the suspense. Building with each fire, it moves quickly and the smoldering quickly ignites to full blown danger. I loved this , and look forward to more from Barker.

Shiloh James and Sebastian York are an amazing team and together they find voices to bring this alive. Barker is the hesitant, vulnerable Chloe, trying to find her new life and slowly James uses her voice to love. York brings the warmth and sensuality to Garrett. He is that alpha male sound with all the feels. I loved this team, and thought their portrayal was fantastic.

Opening sentence. That’s the moment I knew I would read all of this book! To be fair though, I don’t remember reading the trigger warning for what happens.. And what happens is a very real fear of mine (and many LEO spouses) so tread lightly.
I wasn’t a fan of the off page resolution to the on page dramas and that was a letdown for me.

I listened to the audio for this one and throughly enjoyed it. The narrators did a great job!

Great audio! Zero regrets!

****I wish that I could do half ratings.****

This was a great listen! This was the first dual narration I have listened to, so I had to adjust to that but Shiloh James and Sebastian York did an amazing job! There were some parts where it switched from third person to first person POVs so that’s why it’s a 4.5 rating for me!

Love a good first responder/fire fighter romance

Disclaimer this is my personal opinion some may enjoy the things I did not .
it was a good plot and decent story but not really for me it had too many of the "Ick" words for me I listened via audio alc and being two narrators its in duel rather than duet I found that a little off putting one minute its him voicing him and the him voicing her and vice versa made the spice little weird for me would probably have been better in duet style.

not my favourite
