Summary

Sometimes fate sends a sign, and sometimes it sends a bloodhound with a hot hockey player holding its leash, dragging it off you.

Owen Stone is not your usual hockey player. He’s a six-foot-two single dad with dark hair, ocean eyes, and muscles for days. He’s also a last-minute trade trying to find a home for his seven-year-old daughter, his psychic sister, and his adoring bloodhound. Naturally, my hockey-star cousin tells him to move in with us. I’m a sucker for a good dog.

Gina Bradford hits me right in my weakness. She’s tall for a girl, with strawberry-blonde hair, bright green eyes, and a sweet smile. She’s also a champion dog groomer, judge, and owner of a pure-bred show poodle, who is also a notorious towel thief.

When my new teammate invites me to be their roommate until I find a home for my crew, I should’ve said no. I’ve survived the worst, and I’ve achieved my dream of playing in the NHL.

My focus is on winning games and taking care of my daughter, not romance.

Until our dogs start acting like fated mates whose sole purpose is to push us together. And a charity calendar forces us to work together. And a highway accident strands us overnight in a hotel with only one room… and only one bed.

We said it was just once. We’ve both been hurt. But once is never enough.

My daughter loves her, and even my psychic sister predicted the girl of my dreams would be holding a dog.

It takes a little faith and a lot of courage, but what we’ve found is more than a cage. It’s a love that shows up, even when you’re not looking for it.

(Cage is a hockey romance with a broody single dad, an FMC obsessed with dogs/not love, roommates-to-lovers, close proximity, “just once,” chosen family, and loads of spicy fun. No cheating, no cliffhanger, and no third-act breakup.)

This is what I call a good palate cleanser. The characters are down to earth and super likable. Owen is a slightly older widower and Gina is a fun loving dog groomer / show participant and judge. They have great friendly chemistry in the beginning and the relationship progressed naturally. It’s such a sweet, light hearted romance but it does get steamy in the right places.

Willa Jaymes is hereby nominated by me to voice all children in my future audiobooks! She has such a sweet, lyrical voice and moderates it so well for each different character. Liam Dicosimo was perfect for a slightly broody single dad. The duet style production was a huge bonus.

I think I'm in love with a hockey player(again)!!!💘💘💘

Well, I can officially add @authortialouise to my list of new authors that I LOVE & ADORE🎧🤎 I can't believe this is the first time I’m trying her books! Why did I wait so long?! I fell in love so fast and couldn't stop the audio, I finished it in one day (who needs sleeping hours when Owen "Cage" Stone is in your ear🤌🏻) and I smiled so hard my cheeks hurt!

Liam Dicosimo and Willa Jaymes are like angels in my ears! They were PERFECT! 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻 Liam’s voice is so deep and gravelly, he IS the ultimate protective alpha, and Willa was so amazing as Gina. Their chemistry in duet narration was absolute fire! 🤌🏻💘

I loved the chemistry between Gina and Owen. He’s a widower, a single dad, and a hockey player who’s just trying to find his place, and she’s this brilliant dog groomer/STEM girl who just blows his mind. The way their dogs (Ladybird is a legend! 🐶) basically forced them together was freaking hilarious! 🤣 And can we talk about the one-bed motel scene? Like girl... give me a break, Owen Stone is everything! 🥵

The best part? NO THIRD ACT BREAKUP! 🤌🏻 It was just pure, feel-good, spicy vibes from start to finish.

If you love those tropes & micro tropes, this is your next book:
🐾 Opposites Attract
🏒 Pro Hockey Player (Owen "Cage" Stone!)
🐾 Single Dad / Widower
🏒 Temporarily Roommates
🐾 Forced Proximity (Only One Bed! 🥵)
🏒 Protective MMC
🐾 Grumpy x Sunshine
🏒 Dog Lover / Champion Groomer 🐩
🐾 No Third-Act Breakup 🤌🏻
🏒 Found Family
🐾 Age Gap (28/35)

New author to me 🎧🤎😄

Cage is the second book in The New Bradfords series. I am loving this next generation of Bradfords. Gina has been living with her cousins. She is a dog groomer and shower. Owen is her new roommate. He is her cousin’s hockey teammate. Owen is a single dad. He also has a bloodhound. I loved the chemistry between these two characters.

Willa Jaymes and Liam DiCosimo do a fantastic job narrating this book in duet style narration.

This is the second book in The New Bradfords series, a hockey romance and part of The Bradford Boys: New Generation series. Gina and Owen’s story is sweet, fun, and engaging. They’re both interesting characters, and they’re perfect together. The supporting characters are great. I really enjoyed this sweet romance. Liam DiCosimo and Willa Jaymes did an excellent job bringing this story to life.

Sweet romance!

Love and Adore these two! 🥰💕

Cage is book #2 of the New Bradfords series. Here we are following Owen and Gina. Owen, a widower, and single dad to his daughter, just moved to town for his professional hockey career, and is staying with Gina and her cousin (one of his new teammates) temporarily until he finds his own place to live. Still dealing with the weight of his past grief, his main focus is his daughter and his career, and he isn’t looking for love or anything serious. Meanwhile, Gina is a talented dog breed expert. Following her last unfortunate relationship, Gina has sworn off men. She is content to focus on herself, her dogs, her upcoming show, and her family. However, as they spend more time together, sparks fly, and the feelings and deep connection between them grows more and more.

This was such a lovely story. It’s been nice being back in the Bradford world via the second generation. This story had everything I was craving; banter and humour, heat 🔥 🥵, all balanced with emotional elements. It was lovely seeing two people who had previously closed themselves off from finding love due to their past, opening themselves up again, and finding each other when they least expected it.

If you’re looking for your next hockey romance featuring single-dads, grumpy/sunshine dynamics, age-gaps (28/35), found family, all set against the backdrops of a small-town, then look no further! This story was truly a treat!

Liam DiCosimo and Willa Jaymes narrating this story in duet really brought out the story and all its elements and emotions. They were fantastic and the perfect pair to carry and deliver this story!
