Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Over 1 million Discworld audiobooks sold – discover the extraordinary universe of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld like never before.

The audiobook of Carpe Jugulum is narrated by Indira Varma (Game of Thrones; Luther; This Way Up). BAFTA and Golden Globe award-winning actor Bill Nighy (Love Actually; Pirates of the Caribbean; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) reads the footnotes, and Peter Serafinowicz (Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace; Shaun of the Dead) stars as the voice of Death. Steven Cree (Outlander; A Discovery of Witches) voices the Nac Mac Feegles. Featuring a new theme tune composed by James Hannigan.

"'Carpe Jugulum,' read Agnes aloud. 'That's . . . well, Carpe Diem is Seize the Day, so this means -'
'Go for the throat . . .'"

Vampires have come to Lancre, but they're not what you'd expect. Sure, they drink blood and view humans as dinner, but they're modern and sophisticated. They've got style and fancy waistcoats. And they're not a bit afraid of garlic.

The Magpyr family are out of the casket and want a bite of the future. But they haven't met the neighbours yet.

Between them and Lancre stand a coven of four - Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg, Magrat and young Agnes - and they don't take kindly to murderous intruders . . .

'An enduring, endearing presence in comic literature' Guardian

'Incredibly funny . . . compulsively readable' The Times

Carpe Jugulum is the sixth book in the Witches series, but you can listen to the Discworld novels in any order.

The first book in the Discworld series - The Colour of Magic - was published in 1983. Some elements of the Discworld universe may reflect this.

I've been working my way through the Witch stories and I think this has to be the best one so far for me. It's story was the most attention capturing. Was nice to see Maggret involved again as well as the newest addition/s to the coven 😉 It's always interesting to see how Granny is going to whoop-ass and come out on top in each story and there was a really good good build up to it. The other main characters new to this story also didn't disappoint, a good few moments that made me smile too.

I love listening to how Indira Varma makes this series her own, she's got such a good range of convincing voices and keeps me listening 🙂

Best from the Witch series

There are audiobooks that you listen to for the story, and there are audio books that you listen to for the narration. And then there's Indira Varna reading a Discworld novel!
I hope Audible paid her a ton of money, because she is amazing. She doesn't just do the novels justice. She makes them even better

What a mind Terry Pratchett’s was. What a storyteller too. A Dickens for these times. A brilliant tale ably matched by superb narration. Excellent. Tea with sugar will never taste the same again! (Michael).
