About this listen

A cottage on the coast on a windy evening. Under a pool of yellow light, two figures face each other across a kitchen table. A man and a cat. The story about to be related is so unusual yet so terrifyingly plausible that it demands to be told in a single sitting. The man clears his throat, and leans forward, expectant. 'Shall we begin?' says the cat….

I like the twists and turns in the plot and the way that the end is far removed from what one might imagine in the beginning.

What other book might you compare Cat Out of Hell to, and why?

Some kind of magic. Because it is rather different and "out of the box".

Which character – as performed by Mike Grady – was your favourite?

Roger, the cat

Any additional comments?

Its a reasonably easy read but not too lightweight or shallow. It has an unusual plot and lots of surprises as you go through each chapter.

I loved the style of humour, how it was shown, the clever details and reactions of Alec, and the narration.
I've started The Lunar Cats, which is equally excellent so far.

Really funny and such an enjoyable read

I loved this book. It was so refreshing to listen to something unlike anything else I've read. I really wasn't sure if I'd like it but decided to give it a go. I'm so very glad I did. It was read perfectly. Just the right narrator for this book. The quality of the narration was excellent. It was read effortlessly with stunning characterisation and great humour. When I discovered today that the sequel is on audible I bought it immediately. Thank you so much to the author, narrator and all involved in production, for a highly entertaining few hours.

Brilliant! Imagine if Edgar Allan Poe wrote comedy...
