Summary
Callie Gordon is more than a little obsessed....
I love firemen. Heroic. Selfless. Brave. Not to mention the uniform with those damn sexy pants...I can't get enough. Imagine my surprise when local fire captain, Chase Matthews, wanders into my yard on moving day. I've hit real estate gold. Hot as sin with that all-knowing smirk creates an instant spark. "Welcome to the neighborhood" never seemed so good.
But dating a firefighter isn't all it's cracked up to be. Chase keeps me at distance even when I attempt to break down his walls. A friendship with the nosy eccentric woman down the street reveals there's more to Chase than he's willing to share. I'm playing with fire and bound to get burned.
Secrets unfold. Truths are brought to light. Can I handle the heat? Or will my love for this man prove that sometimes even good girls have to burn down the house?
Caught in the Flames is a stand-alone contemporary romance and intended for adult listeners due to explicit content.

The narrattion by Savannah Peachwood was really great, it's amazing how well she delivers it, the paced, cadence and tone for every character. Her male voice is so so good, and she can easily switch from one POV to the other flawlessly. This is what really kept me going to finish the book, the narrattion really help a lot to make it better.

Unexpected Twist

I enjoyed the second half of this book so much that it’s a 5 star listen, but the 3 star first half makes it 4 stars overall.
Savannah’s various voices were excellent and helped make the first half bearable. The story started slow and spent far too much time with the set-up. It’s hard to explain without spoilers, but while I understand the need for the backstory to really appreciate the heroine’s arc, I think it could have been accomplished with a lot less time and detail. Callie is a bit whiny and naive, and it took a long time to warm to her because she gave Chase too many chances. The villains are well developed, but again, it took longer than necessary to reveal them and their motives. Kiki and Ash are the best parts of this story, and their presence in the second half redeems the story for me.
I can only “recommend” this listen if you like long, angsty, slow building arcs.

Back half redeems the first half

like the way the characters were written but at times wanted to slap Cally up the side of her head and tell her to use her words. the pace was a little slow for me and i felt it was dragged out a bit. Despite that I this enjoyed it.
Great narration!
good romance

there is plenty of action and drama and so much angst. Callie is a fun and vibrant character, loved her character grows from a naive woman to one who is more secure in herself. Callie’s character has a lot of knock backs which she comes back from with the help of a certain firefighter. The narrator does a great job of bringing this story to life. I could definitely feel the angst and despair.
Angsty & emotional
