I hadnt read/Listened to the other books in the two series but I easily got engrossed into the story. I kept thinking throughout this is the sort of book the famous book in England set in a retirement village should be, it just was so much better. The supernatural element was part of the story but not overpowering and worked well.

Entertaining and didnt need to read previous books

This story wasn’t quite what I expected. It felt geared toward a younger audience, and I had trouble believing the plot and how characters reacted—especially to Feather talking to dead people. I did enjoy the individual characters, but their interactions didn’t feel realistic. Karen T. Miller’s narration was clear and enjoyable, but unfortunately the story just wasn’t quite my style.
I was kindly given a copy of the book by the publisher and leave this honest review.

I did enjoy this book but it took me a while to get into it. I think this was because it was not what I was expecting. This was my first time with this author and I wasn't anticipating the supernatural side to the story, there was no mention of it in the blurb. Not that I mind, I was just surprised and it was getting my head around that while being introduced to all the new characters and the murders all at once. When I realised what was going on and could keep everybody straight, I then began to enjoy the book and it has made me want to check out other books by this author. I came to like the characters, especially the quirky sidekick November who was a hoot. As for the mystery it turned out to be unusual, with nothing being as it seemed and it was a fun listen.
When Feather and Tug try to check In there room for there romantic getaway, they are turned away because a murder has occurred in the room and the police are still investigating. When Lanie hears of the complication she invites the couple to stay with them, as her newly found cousin has cancelled at the last minute, leaving her cottage available. When problems develop in the bakery the men jump into action, leaving the ladies to look into the murder, with Feather as there secret weapon. They quickly learn that the dead man was an author and not the first to die under mysterious circumstances. However not all Feathers ghosts want to help and things get complicated when it gets very personal. Can Feather and Lanie trust there helpers and find the killer? More importantly can they survive there encounter?
I liked the narrator. She has a pleasant voice that was daddy to listen too. I did struggle to tell the two couples apart to begin with but I think that was more I didn't know the characters and it became easier as the story unfolded.
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
