In 1898, Mary Baker Eddy, founder of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, delivered a sermon on the subject, “Not Pantheism, but Christian Science,” which is now published in this book format. In it, she explains the vast differences between scientific Christianity and pantheism. She reiterates the allness and oneness of God, condemns evil, and enjoins her students to “[l]ove all Christian churches for the gospel’s sake....” (p. 13).
