Summary

With her Beach Café closed for the winter, Evie should be looking forward to lazy days and a happy Christmas… But her sister Ruth is coming to stay, following her marriage breakdown and her boyfriend Ed breaks the news that he's going to spend Christmas in London, for family reasons. I really enjoyed listening to this. This is the first audio book I've listened to after a failed attempt with another book. I hadn't factored how much the performance affects the book. The first one I listened to was awful and I couldn't get through it. However, Melody Grove brought this book to life without the need to give strange voices and accents to characters. They were perfectly performed and I enjoyed the book a lot.

I hadn't realised this was part of a series, so I'm a little disappointed that wasn't noted in the blurb - I've missed the first two books now and am never keen on going backwards. Having said that, I enjoyed the characters so much that I'm tempted to get to know them from the start.

The final thing to note is that the book was pretty short. It was going along at a lovely pace but then the ending felt very rushed. The book could have been much longer and kept at the same pace for my preference. These are minor niggles though, as it's a lovely, light book.
