About this listen

Charlotte Patcham's dream job running the Bath Physick Garden has turned into a nightmare: the underfunded garden has become a target for vandals, and her career and her social life are succumbing to mildew.

So why does she hesitate to take the job of Head Gardener at Hampshire's famous Tillingford Hall? Could it be because her lying, thieving, cheating ex, Sebastian Seaton-Smyth, has also returned to work there after he left Tillingford Hall in disgrace?

But when fate pushes Charlie towards Tillingford Hall can she learn to work alongside Seb so they can get everything ready for the public in time for the opening Christmas concert?

And could Steve Silver, the foxy tree surgeon, be the kind of steady man Charlie could take to spend Christmas with her parents, or might Charlie and Seb reignite their sparkle in time?

Lovely escapism to the world of aristocrats in beautiful mansions, but also with undercurrents of real life issues ordinary Millennials- Gen Y face. Issues like who to trust, not being able to afford the rent, balancing career and starting a family.

Interesting to see the characters develop which were much more layered and complex than expected. Spent parts of the book hoping that the characters wouldn’t sabotage their own future happiness which looks quite likely at various points.

I loved the historical garden restoration theme being a keen gardener, but not a requirement for enjoying the book.

Easy read and I had enjoyed the first book in paperback, but this can be read standalone as the right amount of background info from that is woven into this without being repetitive. Enjoyed the narration of this Audible version.

I liked the story and the funny parts made me giggle. Particularly liked the ‘team colours training’ section as a trainer myself!!

Funny bits too

I just couldn't get enough of this! Charlie and Seb are such a fun pair, I fell in love with them both instantly, and their romantic arc got me so invested. The scenes in the kitchen garden are just the best! Tillingford Hall is such an amazing setting, the author really makes it feel so vivid, and all the characters feel so at home in it! I absolutely loved this as a sequel to Summer, which I thought was amazing, so any fans of that must read this! Equally, this book has a different energy - There's more romance, different themes which I loved even more... I can't say too much or I'll spoil it, but this one was just perfect!

I can't wait for the next one! 10/10, couldn't recommend enough, a fun, easy, engaging listen

Warm, fuzzy, and funny!

You've heard of folk getting the job because of who they knew? Well this is rife at Tillingford Hall.
Air brained Toffs looking out for each other 😆.
The centre of the story, Charlie is an enormous flapper but it's hard to blame her as no one seems to tell her what's going on.

Patronage at its worst!
