Summary

Chronically Awkward is not a story told for sympathy — it’s a story told for truth.

It is a raw, unfiltered account of one person’s lifelong attempt to exist in a world that keeps insisting on rules he never agreed to play by.

Jason takes listeners through the tangled intersections of autism, ADHD, trauma, and chronic illness — through the systems that failed him, the people who shaped him, and the quiet victories that kept him here. It’s both memoir and mirror; a reminder that surviving isn’t the same as living, and that sometimes we only find who we are after everything else falls apart.

Told with sharp honesty, dark humour, and unwavering self-awareness, Chronically Awkward is not just about pain — it’s about the absurdity of life itself. It’s a story of rebuilding, of learning to see vulnerability as strength, and of finding hope in the most illogical of places.

This is a book for anyone who’s ever been told they’re “too much” or “not enough.” For the ones who’ve been labelled, ignored, or misunderstood — this isn’t just one person’s story. It’s proof that being different doesn’t mean being broken.

Because awkward isn’t a flaw. It’s a kind of truth.

I really enjoyed this autobiography, as a late diagnosed autistic man I realated a lot to the authors childhood and work life and hearing what he has been through as a young adult was utterly heart wrenching. Chronically Awkward doesn't delve into every part of Jason Pierre's life but at times says more than you expect him to that made me laugh and at times choke up. I finished the whole thing in one sitting. The narrator is also great as well, very easy to listen to.

Funny and heartbreaking

Jason tells his life story with honesty, sometimes brutally but often with a touch of comedy or reflection that makes some very hard and complex subjects human.

Raw, moving and honest
