The word Pentateuch means "five scrolls" and is the term which refers to the five books written by Moses in the 45 year period between the deliverance of the Hebrew children from Egypt and their entrance into the promised land. This group of books is also sometimes referred to as the "Torah" or the books of the 'Law".
