Satan is made redundant from Hell and sent to live in suburbia.

Getting fired can ruin a day… especially when you were the Prince of Hell.

Will Satan survive in English suburbia?

Corporate life can be a soul draining experience, especially when the industry is Hell, and you’re Lucifer. It isn’t all torture and brimstone, though, for the Prince of Darkness, he’s got an unhappy Board of Directors.

The numbers look bad.

They want him out.

Then came the corporate coup.

Banished to mortal earth as Jeremy Clovenhoof, Lucifer is going through a mid-immortality crisis of biblical proportion. Maybe if he just tries to blend in, it won’t be so bad.

He’s wrong.

If it isn’t the murder, cannibalism, and armed robbery of everyday life in Birmingham, it’s the fact that his heavy metal band isn’t getting the respect it deserves, that’s dampening his mood.

And the archangel Michael constantly snooping on him, doesn’t help.

If you enjoy clever writing, then you’ll adore this satirical tour de force, because a good laugh can make you have sympathy for the devil.

A great take on an old idea, how would the Devil fare on earth? Kind of a demonic version of the Young Ones. It made me laugh out loud, and the great Birmingham-area accents were the icing on the cake.

Brilliant characters & funny demonic goings on around the Midlands, UK

It is unusual for a series of books this long to be consistently amusing. None of them were disappointing. I was concerned in the middle two that Satan himself was not get another appearance, but the last book restored him to my favourite character.

While the characterisation and pace of the narration is good, he has a strange way of InCREASING HIS VOLume then decreasing it aGAIN THROUGHout a sentence. This is fine when you are listening at a good volume yourself, or on headphones or eaebuds, but is frustrating when trying to listen quietly while others are in the house. I'm not sure I can get through 59 hours of it, which is a pity, as the story so far is engaging and humorous. I wouldn't say it's groundbreaking in any way, as I've heard and read books similar which are better, but it's fun, lighthearted stuff. OK, spoiled by strange narration.

Strangely uneven narrator volume irks and unsettle. Why do audiobook companies not give their narrators notes?
