About this listen

When Amy Nickell left university, she managed to nab herself a real life paid job as a celebrity reporter in London town. She literally got paid to ask Robert Downey Junior out for Nando's, while living with her gay best friend, their Harry Styles cardboard cutout and their pet toad, Snoop Frog, and drank prosecco way before it was in fashion. Things were good, they were fun, they definitely weren't serious. However, that life took a very grown up, very serious detour when Amy found herself expecting the unexpected and pregnant age 24. Pregnant and without a boyfriend. And so her life took on an altogether new direction...

Here in Confessions of a Single Mum, Amy debunks single mum myths, delves into the world of dating (nothing ruins sexy sofa snogging ambience like the watchful eye of Daddy Pig), going back to work just ten days after giving birth, lactating WAY too close to Simon Cowell, as well answering the questions that come with having a family that is anything but nuclear.

Amy's wonderfully frank, honest and hilarious story will inspire other parents to own their single status as well as anyone whose life has thrown them a curveball.

Amy shows of a whole new side to parent life and single parenthood. I find the majority of things she ruled so relatable and so enjoyable to read she is truly an inspiration to all single. I do think that not only single mums would enjoy this book, it's an all rounder!

I was obviously drawn to this being a lone parent myself. it started off pretty engaging, witting and funny and ended similarly. however, somewhere in the late middle felt a bit of a drill!

A light-hearted, honest and informative book that perfectly captures the worries - and, in turn, diminishes all concerns - of single parenthood. I sobbed, laughed and breathed many sighs of relief (I just wish I had read it before I went clubbing and attended a festival while pregnant!) The ideal book for pregnant single soon-to-be mums, mums with babies, mums in happy marriages, single fathers or just people looking for an enjoyable read.

I finished this within a day because I couldn’t put it down!

really enjoyed the book, i can totally relate to the craziness of being a working single mum. im hoping for another book about how you juggle being a single mum... as a single working mum myself it is always a juggling act and rarely any time to just chill out. i love being a single mum and cant imagine it being any different.

down to earth and realistic view
