The story is mid and the writing is clumsy. However I like the characters and the world. Laura Horowich is a powerhouse narrator bringing all characters to life and her emotional voice carries the story forward. If she was not the narrator of this story I might have dropped the series by now.

This series had so much promise. Thought it would get better but leaves me wishing for so much more half way into book 3! The story is lacking in depth, intelligence and progress. The FMC is repeating the same thoughts over and over, same mistakes and fails to be as intelligent as the story tells us she is (I feel smarter tbh). And Draven is this powerful general, but keeps getting over run by the plot so many times that I fail to se it.
When I see the twists come from a mile away, get frustrated by the decisions made by the characters, its a no for me. It could’ve been really awesome tho…
