a beautifully written story which at times flowed in poetic motion, though I cried at the suffering, cried at a moments happiness, then cried again at death, the book held me 100% enthralled, then shocked with surprise at a reverend, and finally smiled with my own memories of a bakery. my first karin kallmaker will not be my last.
a perfect tone of delivery and the stories essence is narrated by Ann shanks etter, superb performance.

I cannot remember who that was annoyingly but it’s been a bit of a week! Anyway. Grateful that they did sing it’s praises because this was a delight. Beautiful narration too. Enjoy.

This is a fantastic captivating storyline, beautiful in it's telling, but abhorrent in its journey.
Women who had nothing had no choice to work in a brothel, vilified by the users of Madame' s salon, and hated by the town's folk.
She loved a girl, so she was shipped to the end of the line, out of site and out of mind by her family. She had no choice, just like other poor girls to work the night shift!
Excellent narration. 🎶
