It is rare that the heroine is as strong as the hero, but in this case Vanessa is. Travis is adorable with his dedication to his pack and family, his strength and passion. A true Alpha.

I recommend listening to this book with a strong drink and a box of tissues beside you, you won't regret it. There are some very graphic scenes of violence and abuse but above all this book is about family and a love that triumphs against true evil.

This book meets all your expectations for a paranormal romance. It is entertaining, intense, quite fast paced and easy to listen to. It has mating bonds, violence, strong characters, alphas and enforcers, packs and so on. But there are also softer elements to balance the story, including family, babies, and romance. I particularly enjoyed the fact that Vanessa, though not referred to as an alpha female, is a fighter and unafraid of defending herself and family when required. Despite Travis being an alpha of his pack, he supports her right to fight for herself.

The author introduces us to lots of interesting support characters. As this is a series, I am hopeful we may encounter some of them again, especially if they get their own stories. I am certainly looking forward to the rest of the series.
