About this listen

Brandy just wasn’t sure…

…if the wedding would ever happen.

Would this murder ruin it again?

Ava had known Brandy since they were kids. She had a gift for knowing when people lied to her. Brandy never did. When her FBI-trained friend transferred back from New York to the New Orleans office, her first call was to her old friend. The ad for the apartment looked promising, so off they went.

It wasn’t the best neighborhood.

They could tell by the two gun shots.

And just like that, there was a murder to solve.

Dante has made captain of homicide, but he still can’t seem to keep his old neighbor and childhood sweetheart from meddling in cases. Who killed Carlos and Nina, and, more importantly, why was Brandy going to marry Jiff?

The clues, lies, antics, and a Giant Schnauzer, will keep you guessing, because Brandy and Ava can’t be fooled.

I enjoyed this book. The covid pandemic is certainly a time in are lives that nobody will forget and this author has managed to incorporate some of the drama into this story with a light hearted look at the aftermath. Also without including any of the heartache, yeah no tissues needed. Once again the cast of wonderful characters keep you listening until the very end, mostly to see if they finally get married without any disasters, oh and to see who the killer was. I also liked the introduction of the new character and her very helpful skill, with a friend like Brandy who finds trouble where ever she goes it will come in handy. The mystery did take a slight step back from the wedding plans and took a while for the investigation to really get going but was good when it did, I must admit I had no clue who the killer was. I can't wait for the next book and to meet another loveable dog.
When an old friend comes back to town to look after her elderly father Brandy offers to help house hunt with her. In a sketchy part of town they don't even get out of the car before they hear gunshots but when they witness a giant Schnauzer getting shot attacking the gunmen there is no holding them back. Brandy rushes the injured dog to the vets, while Ava stays with the injured woman. Her husband doesn't make it and the pair of them find themselves looking for the two gunmen. Despite the police in the form of ex boyfriend Dante wanting them to stay out of it, the girls aren't helpless Ava can tell when somebody is lying and as well as being good at solving mysteries Brandy also has a witness. Can the giant Schnauzer find his masters killer? Brandy hopes so because she is fed up of waiting for her perfect wedding which keeps getting cancelled because of the pandemic rules and is trying to plan a much smaller one but with murder throw another road block in her way?
I liked the narrator. She is a good choice for the series and makes the listening to the story fun.
