About this listen

The moment I catch sight of the new coach, a spark ignites. Do we risk it all with a secret affair?

Jonah: I’m minding my own business when he struts into our locker room.

His confidence and sex appeal in his fitted suit and million-dollar smile are undeniable.

After picking my jaw off the floor, I collect myself. I need to find out more about him.

Do I follow him around? Yes. Do I make a fool of myself? Maybe.

While celebrating a win at the gay bar, my temper flares when I see him with another man. Do I dare take a chance?

Ryan: The first day at my new coaching job, he’s there. A winger whose dark hair and light blue eyes have me stumbling over my first words to the team.

Personal relations with players aren’t allowed. But he plays offense and I coach defense, so does it count?

Everywhere I go, he’s there. Tempting me.

My resolve is crumbling and I’m struggling to keep my distance.

When he catches me at a gay bar in a compromising position, it’s game over. Can we keep this hidden?

Crossing Lines is the second book in the college hockey series, Desert Ice Hockey, and is the follow up to the Rock U series. It features a coach with a dark past and a driven hockey player, a secret relationship, found family, hurt/comfort and a small age gap. Desert Ice Hockey follows a group of queer hockey players, known as the squad, while they each battle for their HEA.

I liked Jonah and Ryan together, they were both caring and loving and I was rooting for them. I did feel that they didn't do a good job keeping the relationship a secret. They were a bit careless but I found the ending satisfying.
The narrator was brilliant and I loved how he voiced the characters. He brought them to life. Fantastic narration.

Great addition to the series

As usual Crossing the Line from Christie Gordin is excellent. The latest in the Desert Ice hockey series it follows Jonah from The Squad as he battles to be notices by the NHL scouts and the new defensive coach Ryan.

Great narration and excellent story. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed this story a lot. It’s a bit angsty but I like those kinds of books. Jonah and Ryan must keep their relationship a secret and there’s an issue with a stalker. The blurb spells it all out well so I won’t rehash it.

Finnley Cole continues to do a good job narrating this series but I still wish he had more distinctive voices for the two MCs. He does good voices with secondary characters, including accents, so I’m puzzled why his MC's voices sound so similar; perhaps it’s just me. In any case I’m not bothered enough to stop listening to this series.

Another good book in this series.

Once again Christie Gordon made me swoon with her characters.

Sparks fly between Jonah and Ryan from the moment they meet. The forbidden love story between the hockey player and his team's new defensive coach starts out slow but quickly becomes intense and hot. I was constantly on the edge of my seat, hoping their secret relationship wouldn't be revealed and they'd get into big trouble.

I love how Christie keeps me captivated by her universe through her well developed characters. Beloved main characters from previous stories reappear and play important roles. With each book you learn more about the other roommates and as always I can't wait to read their HEA.

Finley has once again proved that he is one of the best narrators in this genre!

Very exciting!

Christie Gordon always writes enjoyable reads. She likes to keep me on my toes, though. Her characters often skirt the line of impropriety – in this case, coach and player. Yes, Ryan isn’t technically Jonah’s coach. But the power imbalance still exists. I’m able to look past it because it’s fiction. In real life I wouldn’t necessarily be cheering. Same with professor/student situations. And there often seems to be a blackmailer in the background – which lends an air of tension, but also makes it clear I’m not the only one worried about the relationship.

What I loved about this book – the found family of Jonah and his friends at their house. All gay hockey players. The realism of having a sick family member. The feeling that maybe life isn’t perfect but that you can make the best when dealt with a bad hand.

Finally, what I really enjoyed was Finnley Cole’s narration. He does a great job and I always enjoy what he brings to these great stories. More, please.
