Listener received this title free

This story has a very well drawn and believable female lead Tru, who was likeable but not perfect and I wanted to find out more about. Mature for her age and capable, she is no wilting flower! Also, its really well written and flows along nicely. But the romance takes a background role, there was barely any hint of the male lead's character. That might be because the female lead is 17 and he's a lot older and it was refreshing to have a story where the male lead is able to keep their hands off the minor they are guardian for, even though there's clearly attraction on both sides. It's also clear they'll have more contact (ha) in the future.

The biggest issue I had was with the outstanding issues left at the end - you'll know what I mean when you get there. It's sort of like this is the first, freestanding novel in a trilogy. Although I must say, I do have every confidence our heroine will sort it all out, to her satisfaction, that's just how the author has her come across. But I would have very much have enjoyed hearing her do so!

EDIT - a year later - I was right! We will be seeing more of Tru with a new series starting soon, hurrah!

All in all though, a great listen and recommended.

With each book, the series keeps getting better and better. Cursed Vampire is brilliantly written, totally engaging, entertaining, and a fantastic addition to the series. The characters are very well-developed, appealing, unique, with distinct personalities and complex emotions. I generally don't get too much into books with younger/teenage characters, but the series is an exception. I absolutely adore Tru, she is well-rounded, sassy, and a fighter, behaving and reacting maturely for her age. She is confronted with one challenge after another, faced with abuse and heartache but manages to fight and claw her way above it all. She is definitely one to admire.

Poppy Royana did an outstanding job with the narration. She captures the characters' personalities, prototyped emotions, and intensity found in the pages. The series is absolutely amazing, and one I'm strongly recommending.

Tru might only be 17 but she packs a punch with her words and fighting. She puts the council to rights most are misogynistic although a few agree with her . I enjoyed listening to this book and the narrator was good.
