About this listen

She broke her curse, but can they break his?

Amira Brindonu has done the impossible—she broke her own curse and rescued the imperial archduke from Empress Vesha’s witchcraft. Saving the man she loves should have been a good thing, but by doing so, Amira has upset the delicate pact between the cythraul demons of the Dread Marches and the Erymayan Empire, with far-reaching consequences she and Daindreth can only begin to understand.

Now Amira and Daindreth are outlaws on the run. Their list of allies grows slim and their chances of outrunning Vesha’s agents even slimmer. They soon have no choice but to seek help from those who first cursed Daindreth’s father—the banished Istovari sorceresses.

Amira is willing to do anything to free Daindreth from his curse—even bargain with the women who once offered her as a human sacrifice—but it soon becomes clear that she will not be the only one to face the cost.

Every curse can be broken, but the price of breaking this one might be too high. Countless innocent lives across the empire are at stake, forcing Amira and Daindreth to decide just what—and who—they are willing to risk for a chance at freedom.

Daindreth’s Outlaw is the sequel to Daindreth’s Assassin, continuing the story of the assassin who falls for the archduke she was sent to kill. Beauty and the Beast meets The Witcher in this fantasy romance that is sure to delight fans of Sarah J. Maas, Kristin Cashore, and Leigh Bardugo.

Another brilliant book that leaves desperate to know more. My comments are similar to the review I left for the last book. Thank you Elizabeth and keep up the writing…also give thadrid a break. 😂

A continuation of enchantment, eye rolling and head palming, just what I needed.

The author really needs to hire someone else to do the audio narration. The reading is so bad, it's a disservice to her books, which are otherwise excellent. Her narration is monotonous, stilted and makes her characters sound petty in lines where, judging by the text, they shouldn't. She also mispronounces a lot of words. At times it feels like listening to a bad AI reading, like that tik tok voice. I will continue to buy the books because they are truly amazing, but Elisabeth, if you see this, I am begging you to hire someone else to do the audio recordings! Even the cheapest acting student would do. I truly believe you are an amazing and underrated author, and this narration is holding your books back.

Excellent book, horrendous narration

The story is getting interesting, no glaring plot holes distract from the progression of the tale. New characters who don’t seem to easily fall into the good or evil categories have been introduced - the second instalment of the series is quite enjoyable.

The language isn’t remarkably interesting, but the author refrains from tired similes, which is a boon.

The author’s reading is less flat, though not superb, it’s reasonably nice.

Ok I'll admit, the story is interesting enough to make me keep listening. But oh boy, the writing style is bad! Feels like written by a child who just read their first book and decided sure it's not that hard to write their own! Well it turns out it is, and this author needs a lot more practice for the prose to begin to be bearable. Narrarion also quite poor and in dire need of editing. But as I said I'll keep reading (listening)

poor to mediocre, but story intetesting enough
