About this listen

I really liked this story but it did have some holes and felt rushed in the beginning! They met and BOOM.... they are in love! Then there is hot and cold behaviour from Juien, which was frustrating because it happens SO often within multiple chapters one after another.

Furthermore, there were a lot of unanswered questions with regards to Mateo and him being in Paris e.g. how did he afford it? (there were no talk of him working) What was he running from? (this is also completely ignored) and so on.

I needed just a little realism, back story and a sense of time past. Then Mateo leaves on a 6 month dance tour. It is written as if all this happens with a few months. There is no sense that it has been longer. I know that this is usually a problem with a short story - it will feel rushed and there is no time for side stories that can buffer the rushed feeling you get as a listener. I do wish, however, that a little time was spent on making it feel like more time had passed before Mateo went on tour. After he comes back is much better. You don't get that rushed feeling. But other than that, the story was great and very cute.

FYI to those who like spice - this book has NONE.

As for the narrator: Why in the world would the author choose a female narrator for a book about two men meeting and falling in love?? I have listened to over 300 MM books and NEVER had a female narrator. It was SO weird to listen to! She did an okay job with only a few stumbles, but there is a reason male narrators are used for male characters and female narrators for female characters. Could you imagine a lesbian book read by a male?? Hell no🤯

So in total 4 stars. Worth a listen👍

Great book but with a few negatives
