About this listen

Danielle (she/her) is strong. Independent. On the right side of history. Too bad for her the patriarchy doesn't read.

Forced by the shackles of capitalism to move back home after graduating from an Ivy League university, Danielle's personhood is immediately assaulted by the Eurocentric monoculture of Irvine, California. And that was before Paul (he/him) reappeared.

Paul. Her first love. The no-nonsense bad boy who never looked at her twice ... now engaged.

With the help of a mysterious college mentor, Danielle battles to save the man of her dreams from his internalized racism and coerced monogamy. But when Paul's love collides with the struggle against America's white supremacist culture, will she be strong enough to choose?

I bought it after hearing the advert for the sequal on the triggernomertry podcast, I like satire and was intrigued.

The problem is that it was probably too close to reality to be funny. It was a slog to finish and was closer to reality than the humour, irony or exaggeration you would expect from a satire. it was like listening to a whiny left wing blog.

Also there were massive annoying silences between chapters.
