About this listen

A new age begins in the Kingdom of Íseldur in this sizzling third installment of the Viking-inspired romantasy, The Ashen Series.

The lost Volsik heir has finally returned to the people of Íseldur, and even with the warrior who's captured her heart standing by her side, Silla's task is monumental. She must earn the loyalty of the northern jarls to drive Ivar Ironheart from the throne and restore peace in the kingdom. But the secret she guards vigilantly threatens to ruin all her plans: a shard of a god lives in her mind, twisting her thoughts and deeds to His will.

Meanwhile, held captive on the mysterious Isle of Zagadka, Saga Volsik fights to return to her sister in Íseldur. But when King Ivar sets his sights on the Zagadkians, she's forced to make an impossible choice: fight for the man who stole her—and is now hellbent on marrying her—or let the innocent people of his kingdom die.

As a poisonous mist threatens the realm, the sisters will delve into the unknowns of their magic to battle against evil. Return to the land of ice and fire, where a god awakens, a queen finds her power, and sisters must unite against the darkness threatening their realm.

Fabulous ! Demi Winters delivers again. Can’t wait for book 4. Islay Jacob’s exceptional performance brought every character to life making the story ooze off the page.

Magnificent

For this narrator to be the voice of multiple characters, both female and male, to be able to capture the environment, mood, tension, emotion.. I could go on, but she’s (Islay Jacobs) just perfect. I feel like any other word wouldn’t capture what I’m trying to say.

Amazing narrator, incredible story!!! Perfect

These books. This world. These sisters. This story!

I’ve been a hyper focused obsessive the last two days immersive reading this book and she’s just bloody gone and done it again. It is gripping, it makes you feel EVERYTHING. My heart is pounding, I feel sick, I feel excited, I want to laugh, cry, scream, throw my book and phone across the room.

The way that love and fear and hope and despair are presented through this world and these characters is honestly magical. Then we have this incredible magic system with so many layers and so many things yet to discover.

For a second we’re lead to believe things we didn’t think were part of the characters personalities until we are shown reason and understand how it has been displayed and how we will all together, climb these hurdles. The main characters have so much depth, but then so do the side characters. It leaves you speculating and questioning and shouting at them like they might just hear you.

I don’t want to say anything specific because I don’t want to take anything away from another’s reading experience for this story but just please do read/listen to it!

The performance of Islay Jacob’s is impeccable, the writing of Demi Winters is just wondrous. Thank you for this world!

Seriously, what has Demi Winters done to me?

This was great for building the characters and their relationships with intricate world building, magic and politics.

I love the relationships in this which feel so real and the strong female characters are varied but all amazing in their own right.

The skipping around on POV is a bit jarring, although I felt invested in all parts of the story (apart from Jonas 👎 , although an important part). However, I would prefer it if there wasn’t the other male POV, I don’t think it’s necessary personally.

Would recommend this whole series :) Also small side note but I love that the author includes a recap at the beginning!

A great next instalment
