Summary

One night. Six stories. Total nuclear annihilation.

THE BRUTES

Tonight was meant to be about kink. Our lives are a nightmare of last-minute deployments and near misses, and we needed the break.

Instead, we broke. The whole world broke.

But as city after city is blown apart, and with a club full of civilians to protect, we have to pull it together and get them to safety. No matter how we’re feeling. No matter how many family members are disintegrating into ash. We have a job to do, so we’ll be each other’s strength.

Even if it means walking into bomb-fire together.

EDEN

I’m alone.

Please, someone forgive me for what I have to do.

I don’t think I can.

4.5 ⭐'s this was sad and made my heart ache in good and bad ways, I definitely agree with reading this after the main series and I'm glad I did, as although this is about the day of the apocalypse way before the events of the main series, I think there would be too many spoilers reading it before, and reading it after I think hits in a totally different way, the stories of all the main characters in this book just hurt, but although emotional in that sense it was also beautiful too seeing their relationships and the start of it all, and oh my Lucky and Jasper in this book 💗💔😢 although I've only just finished the main series it makes me want to go right back to the start all over again - and I accidently found out while listening to this (epic audio narration again!) that there is also another extra bit called Freefall which you can get on Rebecca Quinn's website or included in Spicy Bites - Silk: 2023 Romance Writers of Australia Short Story Anthology - which I'm about to skip off to right now because I still don't want ot let this world go and I think it's about Lucky and Jasper .... eeek!

I adore this author.
I adore these characters and the narrators. JF Harding especially is exquisite.
I adore this story and the spice and the way Rebecca creates tension.

10/10 all round for the whole series, I feel giddy listening to it and I cannot wait for the Entwined audiobook.

The characters are well fleshed-out and flawed, lovable and unique. The plot is interesting and thrilling and doesn’t drag. The spice is delicious.

Superb work ma’am!

You won’t regret meeting the Brutes

The story continues with a change in line up for narrators. Much that I love JF’s Lucky and other roles in this book, he’s no Beau. Missing that beautiful southern drawl. Meh….

When you’re used to mama Beau’s apple pie and get served shop bought.
