About this listen

Syracuse, New York.

Johnny Ponder and Stacy Ledbetter are found murdered in Shepherd Park. The event has rattled the tight-knit community. On the same night of their murders, blueish-green flashes light up the night sky all around Syracuse. Strange things are reported in the area. Cars shut off unexpectedly while traveling down the road. Radio signals were lost.

As things began to level out and normality is restored, an alien race known as the Qspolians make their presence known. Their interplanetary cruiser crash-landed on Earth, effectively stranding them. Sergeant O'Reilly is hand-picked by the president to complete one task: He is to act as ambassador for the human race and do whatever it takes to keep peace.

Instead of keeping peace, O'Reilly plunges Earth into World War Three.

The Day of Reckoning is upon them.

This is not my normal type of book (I like mystery/thrillers) but I listened to another one of the author's books and really enjoyed it, so thought I would give this book ago too. Glad I did because I enjoyed it. I like the fact the heroes of the book were normal everyday people or more precisely gamers and not trained soldiers, this meant you had no idea where the story was going to take you and kept you hooked until the end. The story was well written, with plenty of action to keep the story flowing along nicely. The story is told by several characters but mainly focuses on two main characters. It is an alien apocalypse so don't expect everyone to survive but surprisingly for me I didn't need to tissues, this is because the story moves so fast you don't get time to get upset. I look forward to listening to more books by this talented author.
When a girl he has had a crush on since kindergarten is killed in a park, Jason doesn't believe the suicide explanation. After seeing the badly mutilated body he can't get her body out of his mind and returns back to the park to find out what happened to this friend. While there he makes a startling discovery that will change the world for every. No body believes him until a shooting in a tv studio takes place. An alien he taken over a host body and is demanding that the world surrenders to the Qspolians or be wiped out when the rest of the fleet arrives. The spokes person for Earth refuses to be sacrificed as food and kills the aliens, in the process leaving no way of calling off the attack. Will earth survive an alien invasion or does it mean the end of the world? Jason joined by the American President, his work colleague Karen and a few other survivors they set up a resistance to take back there planet. Who will come out victorious and at what cost?
I liked the narrator, he does a good job with the telling of the story, adding excitement and suspense.
