Summary

Surly and abrasive, veteran detective Jack Harris at times shows more concern for the wildlife in his beloved Pennine Hills than keeping up cordial relations at work. Indeed, when a trio of local criminals try to steal the eggs of a rare bird, DCI Harris treats it almost like a personal insult. Yet, when two of the criminals descend from the hills into Harris' snare, Harris finds himself with a murder investigation on his hands.

This hasn’t been successfully produced - the sound dips incredibly low even at full volume, compared with other audiobooks.
The story is ok but fairly dull and full of cliches.

Didn’t finish this. Got fed up with an untidy storyline and a narrator who just sounded as if he was waffling

In the end this audio book had a moderately interesting story line. However it was not the easiest of books to follow.

The summary made me want to listen to the story, but the way it was narrated was really irritating - one minute loud, the next too quiet to hear. Tried to listen to this in a quiet environment, but had to give up as I was missing too much of the story and lost the thread.
(Couldn't access enough of the reviews to understand why it had such a high rating.)

Appalling narration

Nicholas Camm's excellent narration kept me listening. I was unfortunately confused with so many characters to concentrate on. An enjoyable read but not for anyone who is busy doing other things while listening - concetration required to remember who was who and where they fit in to the story.

Well narrated, but complicated.
