About this listen

A gruesome exhibit. A gallery of death. Can Inspector Drake stop the killer before he demonstrates his ghoulish skills again?

When the dead body of a woman is found on public display, the murder scene bears all the hallmarks of a famous work of art. DI Ian Drake knows he is dealing with a very creative and intelligent killer - one who enjoys having their work showcased for all to see.

As more murders take place, each copying a famous work of art, Drake faces a murderer who always seems to be one step ahead. And when one of the suspects is revealed to be his own brother, the pressure mounts. This case just got very personal.

The art world is small, but the murderer's ego is too big to hide forever. Drake knows he is getting closer to unmasking the culprit, but can he stop the killer before their grand finale - and a very public murder?

Can he catch the killer and avert more deaths?

The fourth book in the DI Ian Drake series and the best so far. The characters are growing in substance with each book. Drake has a new work partner, Sara who does not know his idiosyncrasies but his OCD seems much more manageable now he has separated from his wife. A body is found on display - exhibited in a shop window. As more murders are committed it becomes clear that they are copying famous works of art and DI Drake delves into the bohemian art world looking for the killer. A great story, I listed to the audio version and the narrator was superb.

The best in the series

DI Drake is 1 of my favourite Male characters. He’s grumpy to a point or set in his ways I should say. He like things just right, his ocd over runs him at times but he’s an interesting guy & his wife really doesn’t get him.
For a police officers wife she’s not very patient about his job or hours.
The story is really good, a gruesome serial killer is loose & is placing victims as art pieces. Drake knows this murderer isn’t like others he’s faced & the hunt is on.
Fab book to listen or read.

I found this crime story fast paced and exciting. This is the second book in the series I have listened to and will be downloading the other books. I enjoy the main character and like seeing how he juggles solving crimes, his broken marriage and spending time with his daughters.

Enjoyable

Inspector Drake novel the one that suffers from OCD and is very meticulous and is now separated from his wife but still sees his 2 girls when he has the chance, and now a new case is another one of those where he promises one thing and cannot commit, and the girls suffer yet again, and this case does have him stumped as it's quite a gruesome murder and the murderer as shown this as an art exhibition, like a painting. As always they do not stop at one and each murder is exhibited as works of art The killer does have him running around and frustrated but slowly and methodically Drake gets there in the end. On a personal note, I do not think this was one of Puleston's best works but still, a good read/listen, Listening instead of reading is a good experience and the narrator Richard Elfyn was superb

A Great Listen

Dead on your feet is the 4th Inspector Drake novel I've read on audio and this series goes from strength to strength.

In this installment, Drake and his team are on the hunt for a serial killer who is enacting pieces of modern art as part of the crime scene.

I've really warmed to the character of Ian Drake over these books and, as well as this gruesome case, he's got a lot going on in his private life with his separation from his wife and, as part of this story, finding out he has a half brother who finds himself slap in the middle of the murder investigation.

Drakes team has also undergone something of a shakeup with a new sergant and ditective constable joining and I think both of these characters add some interesting tentions in the team of ditectives.

as I always do with these books, I must end by congratulating the narrator, Richard Elfyn who delivers yet another first class performance.

I can't wait for the next one!
