I thoroughly enjoyed this story and found myself wondering how on earth things would come out right for the different characters! I had no idea about the anarchists or even the Bolshevists at the turn of the century in England - apart from a mention of Bolshevists in a Just William story ( Richmal Crompton)
But this was serious and the tense atmosphere pervaded the story and I couldn't help feeling sympathy for the characters so beautifully created by the author and brought to life by the narrator. She has been excellent throughout all the books with so many different voices and accents. I wonder how she does it. May I just mention in this story? The black Maria which I can remember in my childhood is pronounced not as Maria in the normal way but as in the word "eye" . Don't know why - just is. Being pedantic - sorry.
Thank you for so many exciting, very different stories. Learned a lot about our history of the time and have been shocked to find out some of the characteristics of people who I had looked up to.
