About this listen

The course of true love never did run smooth.

According to Myrtle, Eloise Crane set her cap for Miles long ago. Although Miles is now dating Eloise, he doesn’t seem overly enthusiastic about it. Myrtle figures he’s simply given in after running out of plausible excuses. Eloise drives Myrtle batty, so she’s intent on avoiding her as much as possible. This isn’t easy since Eloise is determined to join in whenever Miles and Myrtle are together.

When Myrtle spots Eloise at a restaurant canoodling with a different gentleman, she likes Eloise even less. And she decides that Eloise has caused no end of problems when her other suitor is found dead.

With Miles a suspect, Myrtle must jump into gear to clear his name and find the killer before he strikes again.

I loved this book. If like me you have been a fan of the Myrtle Clover series from the beginning then you will know her trusted sidekick very well and no I don't mean her cat. It's no fun being the sidekick but Miles has been by Myrtle's side through countless murder investigations, gnome changes, book club meets, psychic predictions, cooking disasters and tv shows, now he's the one that needs help. After realising that dating isn't for him the mild mannered Miles finds himself being accused of murder. Good job his friend and everybody's favourite elderly sleuth is on hand because I had no clue who the killer was. I just love the characters and am always pleased to see when a new book is release because this series is definitely at the top of my just be read list.

When stay at home, mild mannered Miles finds himself dating out going, loud Eloise he realises he has made a mistake and been made a fool of. His friend Myrtle is quick to point out her misgivings of the relationship, especially after learning that Miles wasn't the only one Eloise was seeing. However things get a lot worse than a broken heart when the other gentlemanly friend is found dead, Miles becomes a suspect. Can Myrtle clear her friends name before he is arrested?
I like the narrator. She makes every character believe able as a person, wether a young voice is needed or an elderly one, she somehow sounds perfect for the role.
