Theories that thrill... Realities that kill... A ticking clock...

When an esteemed criminology professor is found lifeless at an international conference, it's up to DCI Whitney Walker and forensic psychologist Dr. Georgina Cavendish to unravel the mystery.

The professor had unveiled Death's Shadow—a ground-breaking but unsettling theory that could redefine the understanding of serial killers. The theory captivated yet unnerved scholars, leaving a lingering air of dread within the conference halls.

When another delegate meets a gruesome end, it becomes horrifyingly clear: the conference has become a hunting ground. Is Death's Shadow serving as a blueprint for a real-life killer, or has the professor's intellectual arrogance unwittingly unleashed a monster?

Time is running out. As the conference draws to a close, Cavendish & Walker must decode a mind warped by twisted logic. Lives hang in the balance—can they crack the case before Death's Shadow strikes again?

Best of the series really enjoyed the connection to the Sebastian clifford series. The murders were better mysteries than the previous. Thoroughly enjoyed it

Better plot

I’ve loved this series and binged-listened every book from the beginning. I have enjoyed the way that the characters of Whitney and George have evolved and work together and the variety of puzzles they solve.
HOWEVER, despite Sally Rigby’s note telling us how much she enjoyed delving into theories of serial killers, her perspective is sadly inaccurate. Life in academia also has a very different flavour from the sour competition described in Death’s Shadow. I can just about forgive George’s idiosyncratic take on non-verbal comms - suspending my disbelief- but Sally’s exploration of psychology fell flat here. Perhaps Sally should recruit a ‘helper’ to support her writing when she explores topics outside her (considerable) expertise?

Psychology ISN’T like this

Still very good but not the best of the series - but look forward to the next one!
