Summary

Molly Thomas is a feisty, independent soul, born on the Winter Solstice. At every stage of her life, she has faced troubles. As a young woman, her family are evicted from their home at Christmas. Molly swears vengeance on the jealous neighbour and land agent responsible, Flann Montgomery. Then in 1896, her baby son is taken from his pram.

While Molly searches the streets for little Oliver, the police are called but her baby is gone. Why does trouble seem to follow Molly? And will she ever find out what happened to her child?

December Girl is a tale of family bonds, love, revenge, and murder.

Absolutely amaxing storyline and writing. History brought to life. Really felt like I was back in time. I sometimes struggle with audio books but I found myself stealing away from busy family life to listen to Molly and Henry's story. You can tell the book was really well researched too and care was taken to bring the time period to life. Overall just a brilliant listen and my little escape during the covid19 lockdown!

I was captivated by this tale. I adore Molly's character purely for her fiestiness and her ability of strength to deal with everything that is thrown her way. She has led such a troublesome life but as a reader it kept me hopeful for positive change. The book reminds me of the sagas written by Margaret Dickinson and Catherine Cookson . It is a very sad and melancholy story with great character development. It is beautifully raw and insightful of past times .I was given this book by the author/narrator in return for an honest and unbiased review

The narrator managed to bring this book to life. She captured every single character perfectly. Outstanding range of voices:dialect, accent and total empathy with characters. Well done to, Emma, this was like listening to a one act play!
