About this listen

“Our greatest hit is a love song I wrote for my bandmate. And he has no idea.”

Messy-haired, soulful-eyed, off-kilter lyricist Les Graves holds tight to the hedonist’s credo of consumption in every avenue of life. He has trouble staying still, trouble staying sober, trouble turning down a good time - but put a pen in his hand, and he’ll set a page on fire.

Music was Evan Porter’s ticket out of the backwater mud puddle he was born in, the passion keeping him warm as he busked on street corners. Every chord, every song, every ounce of sweat has been devoted to making Porter & Graves a success. He’s the level-head, the quiet maestro, the seatbelt that keeps Les from flying too far out of control. And he’s getting pretty tired of playing savior.

Their onstage chemistry is electric, offstage it's… complicated.

After Porter & Graves’s third album bombs, the pressure is on for the duo to redeem themselves with their fourth. While sequestered in an East Tennessee cabin to compose, things take a turn for the worse when an event from their past comes back to haunt them in an embarrassingly public fashion and forces them into an unusual position that tests a partnership already hanging by its bloody roots.

Can Evan and Les find harmony or will they - and their music career - go down in flames?

Dedicated, the first standalone in the Rhythm of Love series, is a steamy, bisexual friends-to-lovers romance featuring semi-kinda forced proximity, a fake relationship, angst, snark, a cock-blocking greenhouse, really poor decisions involving social media, and a HEA guarantee.

Greg Boudreaux is one of my favorite narrators and one of the reasons why is because he can pretty much capture the essence of any character and make them different in every book I've listened to by him even if the voices are similar. I loved his characterizations of Evan and Les, even if I didn't like everything about this book.

The interviews and little tidbits at the start of some of the chapters were great. They were fun and told a lot about Evan and Les's personalities.

I liked Evan and Les. I found Les's interest and longtime crush on Evan, a whole lot more believable than Evan's. Maybe because Les was a playboy whereas Evan was demisexual? I don't know, it was just difficult to believe Evan's attraction in some instances. *shrugs* Still, their relationship got better as the book advanced, so there's that.

I'm not particularly fond of graphic or semi-graphic sex scenes with other characters that aren't the MCs, so yeah, you can say that didn't work for me. Neither did the flashbacks of the first time Les and Evan were together, maybe if it hadn't been cut into a million pieces until we got all the scene, but then again maybe not, I've never been fond of going back and forth between present and past. Plus, the book was overly long, with lots of inner thoughts and it dragged a bit.

So, yeah, while the book was entertaining to listen to, it took me a long time to warm up to the story, Les and Evan were good together and it was lovely (and hot) to see their relationship progress, even if my favorite part of the book was Greg's narration.

Entertaining!

All the way through listeneing to this book, I caught myself thinking "blow mw, this is great". Greg Boudreaux is one of my favourite narrators. His style is so flowing and natural that I forget I'm listening to a book and just get totally immersed, as long as the story is engaging enough. And OMG is this one engaging. The story is glorious. I love friend to lover as a trope and this one is so well crafted. Les' whole life has been built around his unrequited feelings, but in such a believable way. The supporting cast are great and I'm looking forward to getting to their stories. I wish I could hear the music, the lyrics are gorgeous. A totally satisfying listen that has gone in to my 'relisten' pile.

My first Neve Wilder, but definitely not my last!

If you like major angst with your rocker romance look no further than Dedicated, Neve Wilder really knows how to tug at the heart strings.
This has everything, friends/enemies to lovers, fake romance and hot rock stars.
The first half of the book has flashbacks to an event 6 month previous, I really liked this style as it really helps you understand where both the MCs are at emotionally whilst its happening rather that it just being talked about. I also like the dual POV throughout.
Les and Evan danced around each other a lot and this is definitely a slow burn but so worth it. Where Evan is pretty closed off and keeps things very close to his chest, Les is pretty open although he has kept his feelings for Evan hidden. I really felt for Les in the latter stages of the story, yes he was pretty flawed but also pretty loveable.

Music brought them together. Band partners who worked together to write music at a cabin. Porter was the responsible one, having to keep up with Les, the happy go lucky and so very slutty one. One night of debauchery will change everything for them. Les has carried a torch forever hoping his friend would look at him different. It’s a fun book to listen to. The narrator has a great voice. Very smooth.

This book gripped me right from the start. Neve is a new to me author but I adore Greb Boudreaux’s work so I grabbed it and I wasn’t disappointed at all. No only was the narration amazing but the story was great too!! I was so happy to see them get their HEA but I also didn’t want it to be over!

Captivating
