Summary
The great powers are stirring, and Holt and Ash are ready to return to the fight.
A summons from the Life Elder sets them on a perilous mission, leading to steaming jungles and blistering islands where ancient secrets will challenge everything they know of magic and dragons.
Talia, the Red Queen, is beset on all sides by pirate raiders and marauding mercenaries. Empress Skadi has abandoned her, battling uprisings in her own lands. As the noose tightens on Feorlen, Talia faces a difficult choice: let her people suffer or turn her powers against mortal foes?
Osric Agravain has found hope with his newly bonded black dragon, but some wounds run deeper than flesh and bone. Along the Fallow Frontier, he seeks the inner peace that has long eluded him.
And within the sanctum at Falcaer, Paragon Adaskar is struggling to unite the fracturing riders. If he fails, ruinous chaos will break across the world.
For when Elders and Paragons quarrel, kingdoms will fall.

Full of Delights

Firstly, I appreciate the way the writer describes new characters, using broader and more descriptive colour tones, such as "umber brown". It's a small detail but promotes inclusion beyond "dark skinned" for example.
In addition, I also appreciate how the author doesn't focus much on the female form to add to the female characters. They are equally regarded as make characters without it being overt they're strong. You sometimes get in other stories when portraying strong female characters it's a huge part of their whole development and too obvious it's trying to be fair. But not in these stories, and that's refreshing.
Second, I love Rake and how Peter Kenny plays the character. I want this series to be animated and for this portrayal of the character to be exactly that way. And going through each character's journey with their counterpart dragon is like listening to a good therapy session.
Several times listening to this story, even from the first two, I had moments when I dead stopped to take in the scene. And that's not often for me with fantasy stories.
Thank you Michael J Miller for these incredible journeys with my new favourite characters: Rake, Talia and Ash.
