Summary

A stand-alone story in the Shadow Beast Shifters world. Best listened to after Reborn for storyline continuity.

Melalekin "Angel" of the Honor Meadows has been a warrior her entire life. Battle. Death. Loss. They were her constant companions until the day she met Mera Callahan. A shifter who ended up being so much more. A shifter who changed her life, and now...she has been reborn. The scars of her past are gone. Her losses muted under the new life she plans on living.

There's just one being standing in her way. A grudge holding desert deity who has made an art form out of making her life hell.

Reece of the Desert Lands is a god unused to being defied, and he has a very long memory when it comes to those who wronged him. Angel is the one he blames for the worst loss in his life, and he'll never let her forget it. Their history is tragic and bloodied, and the pair is set to clash one more time, especially when they end up trapped in the very spot where they lost it all. A meeting of the dynasties in the Delfora, the ancient desert lands, will force them to the place it all began.

Here they will learn that sometimes the past defines your future. And that there is a fine line between love and hate.

Note: This is a stand-alone in the Shadow Beast world and does not end on a cliff-hanger. It is full-length, and it is advised to listen to the first three in the Shadow Beast Shifters series first (Rejected, Reclaimed, Reborn). This is an enemies-to-lovers story, with action, snark, antiheroes, and steam. It is recommended for 18+ due to storyline and situations.

This book was amazing to read, but listening to it is even better! The characters are really bought to life by the voice actors, and the pace was fantastic.

I liked this story, it was an almost continuation of the other 3 books with Mera and Shadow, however this one concentrates on Angel and Reece.
They had unspoken history and in this book, you find out what that history is and more about their relationship going forward.
It was a journey in the sands and there was again loss of main characters in this book, though not all are resurrected. 😢
The narrators were different for this book and it was ok.

after the 1st 3 books this one had some work to do and whilst I enjoyed the book very much I can understand the frustrations of some of the reviews.

This book is about Angel and Reece, we get to learn more about their history together and watch it forge a new path. Also some surprises thrown in, some good, some heart breaking moments also.

I think the thing I struggled with Is although Angel has been reborn she has lost a lot of her fire and whilst I understand this was a healing journey for her, bringing her a love she never understood and a gift she never thought she would have, she was somewhat... muted in this book.

also through no fault of the narrators here but shadow and meras voices are deeply ingrained in my head so hearing a different voice sounded off. However that being said they did very well on this book.. They told the story well I just feel like there was something.... missing The emotions felt a bit muted maybe, not sure if that was it.
I still really enjoyed this book and I am sure I will listen to it again.
