THE SUNDAY TIMES NUMBER ONE BESTSELLER

You never know who's watching . . .

Every Monday evening, six people gather in a smart North London house to talk about addiction. There they share their deepest secrets: stories of lies, regret, and above all, shame.

Then one of them is killed - and it's clear one of the circle was responsible.

Detective Inspector Nicola Tanner quickly finds her investigation hampered by the strict confidentiality that binds these people and their therapist together. So what could be shameful enough to cost someone their life?

And how do you find the truth when denial and deception are second nature to all of your suspects?

Full of betrayal, deceit and suspense, Die of Shame is the spectacular thriller from Sunday Times bestseller Mark Billingham.

Have listen to all of Mark's books, the best one so far this is his imperial bedroom or London's Calling.

Up until now, I have loved all Mark Billingham books...this one however did not live up to expectations & I wanted to keep hurrying it along, just to get it finished. The author seems to have taken to narrating his own books, which I really didn't like... he seems to drone on & I got very bored in the end.

Disappointing ..

You always reach a point in a book where you have to decide if you actually care what happens in the end. But although I reached that point midway, I carried on.

I think it was all about a total dislike of all the characters, so who "did it" didn't really matter.

But it's well written and read, so I was pleased with the outcome.

Difficult Subject.

What made the experience of listening to Die of Shame the most enjoyable?

The structure of the plot. The 'Now' and 'Then' chapters.

What did you like best about this story?

Very different characters from very different backgrounds thrown into a melting pot of a relapse prevention group for addicts. Meltdown was inevitable but Mark Billingham ensured the melting pot was well seasoned with murder, mystery, jealousy, and personalities of the highest disorder.

What does Mark Billingham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Mark Billingham brought the characters to life with individual voices and accents. He did not sound like a reader, more of a very accomplished actor.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes for sure. I listened to it entirely on my daily commute to work, and drove my car very slowly. Needless to say, I was late for work.

It would be a shame to miss this one!
