About this listen

A magical serial killer is on the loose, and gelatinous, otherworldly creatures are infesting the English countryside. Which is making life for the Ministry of Occultism difficult, because magic is supposed to be their best kept secret.

After centuries in the shadows, the Ministry is forced to unmask, exposing the country's magical history - and magical citizens - to a brave new world of social media, government scrutiny, and public relations.

On the trail of the killer are the Ministry's top agents: a junior operative with a photographic memory (and not much else), a couple of overgrown schoolboys with godlike powers, and a demonstrably insane magician.

But as they struggle for results, their superiors at HQ must face the greatest threat the Ministry has ever known: the forces of political correctness....

Differently Morphous is the latest and greatest tale to emerge from the mind of writer (and narrator) Yahtzee Croshaw.

Quite possibly my favourite novel from Yahtzee yet, and very animately performed. Listeners familiar with his games will find some nice references in here but knowing them isn’t essential. I will say that if your curious about a certain event mentioned in the novel then you should play “The consuming shadow” to get some back ground on the world the book takes place in.

Without getting into too much detail the Ending was a bit mysterious, which normally would be fine except i’m aware of the author’s tendency to not make sequels, so if this is going to be another stand alone story there will be a few questions left un-answered but it by no means spoils an excellent story, well worth your time and money!

Half Supernatural thriller, half Yes Minister

I enjoyed this so much, I stopped listening and started over, but now through speakers so the whole family could listen. The five stars is from all of us, so they should count as three five-stars.

We loved the characters and the language. The central mystery was not very mysterious but I don't think it was meant to be as much as a backdrop for hilarious world building. The legacy from Douglas Adams was present without it turning into a pale copy or rip-off. It's own thing with loving homage.

Well this was fun!

Great story, hoping there will be a follow up soon. Wasn't too sure about the narration at first, a little intense, but when it came to the character's voices Yahtzee is excellent. If you like this genre you will not be disappointed.

Great read

Loved it

Great to hear author reading his own work as he new how he envisioned the characters and really brought them to life .

Brilliant

Really good this. I don't want to give too much away as I think you'll enjoy it more the less you know going in. It has everything you'd expect from Yahtzee's writing - solid world building, enjoyable, well drawn characters, a mystery that actually kept me guessing and cracking action but it also packs one hell of a last minute swerve that I'm not going to spoil. Highly recommended.
Sequel please.

Very pleasantly surprised
