About this listen

Everybody hates meetings. And why shouldn't they? Most meetings are poorly led, counterproductive, and time-wasting. Based on decades of practice and research, best-selling authors Weisbord and Janoff have come to the conclusion that most people lead meetings incorrectly. They, instead, propose 10 contrarian principles that actually get things done.

Bought this because I organise and facilitate meetings for a living and also because I'm currently studying for an MSc in Organisational Development. It's an absolutely excellent listen; Weisbord and Janoff have a lovely writing style - dry and direct; and in this book they distill two lifetimes' work in the field of getting groups to reach decisions and make them stick. They offer a simple theoretical approach to what needs to be controlled and what you should stop worrying about and bring their ideas to life with stories of professional successes and things they screwed up and subsequently used as learning opportunities - a real mark of honesty and confidence. Some sort of pdf summary would have been useful to assist in summarising the key points but it would be churlish to give this anything but five stars
