Summary

What's haunting Lee Tyack? He's moved in with Gideon Frayne, and they're both loving their new lives. But the shadow is still there - a voice from hell that torments clairvoyant Lee, and which even the pragmatic copper Gideon can hear.

Gideon's determined to protect his lover. But after a serious injury on duty, Gideon finds out the hard way that he needs protection too. His job's on the line and he's scared. Worst of all, he thinks he knows who that voice belongs to - and he can't stop Lee from heading off to confront this most terrifying ghost from his past.

When the full spring moon rises over Cornwall's rugged coast, and the veil between the worlds grows thin, Tyack and Frayne must join forces to solve a decades-old mystery that still has the power to tear their world apart.

This was an enjoyable story, and as usual some interesting magical pagan aspects from an author who obviously knows and loves the west country.
It didn't grab me plot wise as some I've read before by this author, and I did find the narrator's Cornish voice for Gideon a bit of a struggle as he seemed to be pushing his voice too hard. The accent was good though. However listening to this did make me want to go back to Devon and Cornwall and explore.

Enjoyable, but not the best I've listened to.

As always this series is brilliant. amazing narration, beautiful language but most of all in this particular installment it is the development in both Gid and Lee. As explaining their development woupd require horrendous spoilers i will try to be vague and say that a certain event (followed by a mystical revelation at the end of the book) makes both men reconsider their priorities and positions and helps build a true love bond between them. I was at the edge of my seat for this one!

Major development in the male leads

As with the previous books in the series, I loved this one too. Both Gideon and Lee are perfect together. As always the mystery was great, Gideon did act a little too stubborn and silly but the way the author wrote the story the desperate need Gideon felt to be with Lee came across wonderfully. Due to some other worldly aspects of these stories, despite Gideon's condition his call to be with Lee was correct. I love these two together. The sex scenes are very explicit in all the books but because of Gideon's and Lee's love for each other these scenes feel right. Narration for me is perfect and has only increased my enjoyment in listening to these wonderful books.

Loved this one too

I’ve listened to all the books in the series back to back and thoroughly enjoyed everyone of them. Tim Gilbert has done an amazing job with the narration and has brought them to life for me.

Marvellous

all the sauceiness that I come to enjoy with another good story line told in that well crafted scripted manner. All told and narrated as i like with proper cracterised voices. The only critisim would be Gideon, who sounds like a dirty old man rather than a hunky policeman.

all that I expect from Harper
