I’ve loved these series, am I right or wrong over the girl in with the orangutans 🦧 has been in a tv series, I seem to remember it from somewhere

Nice easy listening, stories are told well and refreshingly the accents were pretty good. I am going to listen to the next box set so that’s tells you something. Two downsides however. The book is very misanthropic, almost without exception the men in the books are either bumbling idiots, corrupt, useless or cheats, where as most female characters are clever sharp, quick witted and are exceptional at their jobs. Please please notice I said MOST not all. The other problem is that the two DC’s both sound like breathless over excited teenagers. That may be simply be down to the narrator but it’s a bit off putting especially when they interview witnesses and sound like over excited puppies. Small points but still most enjoyable

I wasn't keen at the start: I didn't like the DS at all and it's taken 3 books to tolerate him. There are a lot of inconsistencies between hook 1 and 2. The storylines are good though and I am looking forward to book 4 now.

Rocky start for me but got in to it

I liked the sound of the story but in actual fact felt it didn't live up to its potential! The name of narrator seemed familiar and once I was listening to her I realised I had heard her in other purchases and not liked her work! She used a song song time in her general narration which is really irritating and the manner in which she voices the characters seems inappropriate to convey what they are actually saying! In parts I felt she had not pre-teens any of the book and just ploughed in without really thinking about it! I am not going to purchase any other books which she has narrated😒
