Summary

The second Dragonriders of Pern novel from New York Times best seller Anne McCaffrey.

The Weyrs are full again, with old and new riders taking to the skies to fight Thread once again. But all is not well across Pern - the Oldtimers are struggling to adapt to the changes their centuries-long absence has brought and F'Lar and Lessa must carefully balance their conservative ways against those of their allies in the Crafts and Halls.

As new technology makes the Red Star appear closer than ever, F'Lar's brother F'Nor starts to look for ways to rid Pern of Thread once and for all...but at what risk?

Enjoyed the story couldn't put it down . I read the series years ago and loved them hut due to failing eyesight I was unable to read them again but thanks to audio books I'm able to enjoy the books again. The narrator reads the story well voicing the parts making it interesting

Lovely to hear one of my favourite series of books from my youth, especially as I can no longer read. I liked this narrator, I hope the others are also easy listening

Happy

my only critique, please either double up on pop shields or put a foam muffler over the mic. a performance as professional as this deserves better than plosives. beautifully narrated otherwise and nicely written too. thank you!!

great story, lovely narration.

I read these years ago, but I’ve enjoyed listening to them even more. I just wish that all the books were available on Audible.

Love and McCaffrey’s books

I'm a long-time fan of the Pern novels, but alas not of Sophie Aldred's reading. The characters lack weight and lines of dialogue often feel like they lose meaning. Everyone seems much younger than they should! I've noticed it with other books she reads - I think she'd be wonderful as a children's reader but I'm finding this a struggle. Others disagree, which is great. But I'm looking forward to the change of reader with the next in the series.

A classic, impeded by the performance
