Summary

In 1993 Harry Bosch was assigned the case of a missing person, Marie Gesto. The young woman was never found - dead or alive - and the case has haunted Bosch ever since.

Thirteen years later Bosch is in the Open Unsolved Unit when he gets a call from the DA's office. A man accused of two killings is willing to confess to several other murders in a deal to avoid the death penalty. One of his victims, he says, is Marie Gesto. Bosch begins to crack when he realises he and his partner missed a clue back in 1993 which could have prevented the nine murders that followed the killing of Marie Gesto.

I love Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch books and this is no exception. A riveting story, brilliant narration from Len Cariou and mentions of previous cases or people which, if you have listened to the previous audiobooks, make you feel like an insider in what is going on. Superb

Another great Harry Bosch tale

The Harry Bosch stories are superb. I listen to them whilst driving and I get stuck into the plots. I have to turn off the television so that I can finish the book to solve the case before my next journey. I just can’t wait. I have most of the Audible releases for Harry and I will keep going until I have them all.

Harry’s the man

Well paced and excellent character portrayal. Couldn’t stop listening right up until the exciting end. Michael Connelly at his best!

Good plot

First off, Len Cariou is the perfect narrator in my opinion. He brings all the different characters to life brilliantly. As for the story, much of it is to the usual standard of Bosch books. I’m listening to them in sequence and I’m so happy he has a badge again!

My only complaint is that there’s a gaping plot hole that annoys me intensely. Normally, Connelly is very good in balancing real law enforcement procedures with the need to keep the story exciting. This time I felt he got the balance wrong.

Still a very good listen, Bosch is an incredibly compelling character.

Story marred by a major plot hole

A great crime thriller from the master of suspense. As always Harry is a flawed policeman who is frequently on the edge of the thin blue line in his pursuit of the mission. This is a particularly well put together example in the series. The narrator Len Cariou as always does a great job and brings the characters to life.

Classic Harry Bosch
