About this listen

Ace has spent her entire life hiding who she is.

First, it was from friends and family who didn't know she was stealing from the rich. Then, it was hiding her true self in a prison city under the water. The worst was hiding herself from new friends who helped her destroy Alpha. What she didn't know was that the decision would force her to come into the light.

Maketes has always been the jokester. No one takes him seriously, and if they do, it's only because he was born violent. But then he starts talking with a human through droids and finds a kindred spirit in them. When he's given an opportunity to find out who this human really is, he takes it.

What he finds in that prison city is not just the person he was friends with. He finds a villainous group of people who wish to use him to their advantage and a woman who captivates his entire soul.

Together, they travel through the remains of Gamma, a city long forgotten. While they search for a key that will change how they see the entire world underneath the ocean, they find themselves growing closer. Soon enough, they realize that perhaps hiding their entire lives has prevented them from experiencing the greatest part of life.

Love.

I lost my composure at the gym when Maketes realised Ace has just one heart. My boy was funny and lovely soooo very different than the previous two. Absolutely loved that the male narrator carried on the tone/voice of each character from previous books so Maketes sounded exactly the same as in the first book where he was introduced. Romance was ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Onto the next one to see if the curse the guys wished upon Fortis will come true...

Funny & Lovely

Book three in this wonderful series and with every book I'm more engrossed. If you have not read 1 or 2 I have reviews for both 😀.
This book finds Maketes on his way to meet Ace, who he had been communicating with through their droids for a while. He is drawn to Ace but does not realise she is a woman until they meet.
Ace is in Gamma, where criminals are dumped from various communities and left to themselves. No clean water, no food except rats and little supplies. Her only goals were revenge (achieved last book) and keeping her sister safe in Beta.
Ace and Maketes end up on a mission that will reveal secrets that could destroy both their worlds.
As they work together we watch their relationship grow and their own insecurity from their pasts come to the surface. Unlike book 2 the other characters do not play a large part in most of this book, it is the two of them for the majority of the story. Maketes is his light hearted humorous self but we get to see his depths, insecurities, longing and strength. He takes touch her and 💀 to a whole new level, we see more violence and how 🤔 ick certain humans have become.
Ace faces her fears, has to make choices that effect more than her and grows to fiercely love Maketes.
In the last two hours of the book we find ourselves back with everyone from the previous books.
We also learn a lot more about depth striders which was absolutely fascinating.
This has been the toughest and most heart wrenching of the series so far, I was in all the feels! The horror, pain, intense love, strength, spice, family......what a book! Its does all this whilst being comforting as you are in a world you love with characters you know. I LOVED this book!!!!

Loving this series....

My anticipation for the fourth Deep Water installment was sky-high, and Emma Hamm absolutely shattered all expectations! 'Ace' is everything fans have been yearning for, and the character development is simply outstanding. The plot continues to escalate, leaving me utterly captivated. The thought of waiting a year for the next book is almost unbearable! This series is a true gem – perfectly written and brought to life by phenomenal voice actors. Absolutely brilliant!

And, dare I say, I'm ready for some deeper relationship development, where the intimacy is built with sophistication and mirrors the complexities of real connections (the way these scenes are portrayed is truly masterful), and maybe a few hybrids (babies)? Just a suggestion for even more magic!

I'm particularly buzzing about the hints surrounding Ace's sister and the depth strider and the mysterious city of Tal(?)... that storyline promises to be incredibly intriguing, and I can't wait to see where Emma Hamm takes it!"

Well done to you all!

Best wishes
