The language is wonderful! The story is calm and cozy. I was hoping for more of a ‘unlikely’ friends vibe where they all learned from each other. But that wasn’t the case - clearly Willow is the leader. The friends (aside from Gretchen) barely had any character? And the only reason Gretchen seemed to have charachter was bcs she was written to be the joke of the story (not in love with that). There is also a sexism issue in this book with heavy “not like other girls” vibes I didn’t enjoy. The plot itself wrapped up very VERY quickly in the end. Last 10min or so. I’d still say I had a lovely and cozy time. I didn’t feel as though Willow SHOWED her character development but the idea of it was there. In a way no one ever learned anything - but this is the world-building book of a series so that’s not surprising. I’m unsure if I will listen to/read the rest but I enjoyed this one and don’t regret it at all. And the vibes of the opening were wonderful!! And I was listening to it all the time bcs it was very relaxing and the voices where very well done and cute.
