Summary

From World Fantasy Lifetime Achievement Award winner Michael Moorcock comes the first volume in his Elric of Melniboné series.

It is one of the most well-known and well-loved fantasy epics of the twentieth century: the story of Elric, emperor of the dying kingdom of Melniboné. For a hundred centuries the Melnibonéans have ruled from the Dragon Isle of Imrryr.

Now, after years of corruption and decadence, Elric’s amoral cousin Prince Yyrkoon, the brother of his beloved Cymoril, sets his eyes on the Ruby Throne.

Elric must face his treacherous cousin not as a warrior but as a sorcerer king once again in league with the ancient gods of Melniboné, the Chaos Lords, and thus sealing his inexorable fate.

Elric of Melniboné is the first volume in Michael Moorcock’s incredible chronicle, which created fantasy archetypes that have echoed through the genre for generations.

Volume one of the Elric Saga contains the first novels in the series: Elric of Melniboné, The Fortress of the Pearl, The Sailor on the Seas of Fate, and The Weird of the White Wolf.

This is an excellent production of a fascinating story by a great author. Very little to fault.

Except - I really thought that this was going to be the full Elric saga. Instead it is the first roughly half of the Elric stories. I must admit to being disappointed that this was not clear in the title details, which imply it is complete.

But I am grateful that these important Moorcock stories are getting a reading. Looking forward to more.

Excellent - But Not the entire Elric saga

His name is Elric, not Eric. It was very distracting and should have been picked up in editing. Good narration otherwise. I found myself waiting for the next time he said, Eric. Moorcock's storytelling is superb and is read with a good cadence and characterisation.

did a deaf person edit this?

A nice way of being introduced to the worlds of Elric of Melnibone.
Highly recommend.

A wonderful version of a series of tales

Sam does a superb job in bringing the trippy world of Elric to life. This is right up there with Peter Kenny's Culture Books narrations. I especially liked the rabbit in the Fortress of the Pearl...Utterly hilarious! I really hope we get more Moorcock done by Mr Roukin!

Brilliantly read!

How the Narrator didn’t crack up when having to read “there are two places: one called ‘Oi’ and the other ‘You’ “ is beyond me 😂🤣😂

Oi! You! 😂🤣😂
