About this listen

The headlines don’t lie—two pro football players went head-to-head… over me.

My brother warned me. Don’t touch Branch Best.
They might be teammates and best friends, but Branch is a heartbreaker.

The smirk. The swagger. His playboy reputation is well earned. So obviously, I was drawn to the red flag like a wide receiver to an end zone.

One fun, carefree night. Game over.

That is, until two faint pink lines turned the secret into the biggest scandal of the sports season. Now fists are flying on the field, my brother won’t talk to me, and I want to bury myself under the covers with an entire coffee cake and forget the world.

This was never supposed to be serious, but the game has changed. And now I must ask—are we just a fumble…or the end game?

Loved the storyline and the voice actors were great. I do love a surprise pregnancy trope.
Branch & Layla definitely had a shock after a steamy getaway.

Loved this.

Adriana Locke pens another fabulous novel, a brother’s best friend sports romance with witty banter that puts a smile on your face and smoking hot chemistry that has you fanning yourself. Branch Best, a professional football player, is a player on and off the field, and his view on settling down is that it is not happening. Layla’s older brother, Finn, plays on the same team as Branch, and they are good friends, and he warned his sister to stay away from him and him from her. Except there was an undeniable chemistry between them, one they gave into, neither expecting more from their steamy encounter. Layla just ended a relationship with another pro football player and doesn’t want a repeat, but giving in to their desires and spending one night together couldn’t hurt. I adored these two characters, and her brother, Finn, and her best friend Poppy were amazing, too. I loved how everything played out in this book, with an accidental pregnancy leading to some drama, but once things cooled down, it eventually warmed up, before steaming up, again. There is never a dull moment in this book, and as always the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. Adriana Locke, thank you for another fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride, a romance that warms your heart in the end.

🎧📚🎧 Wed Ross and Kai Kennicott did a great job voicing the characters, taking each role and making it their own, delivering a perfect portrayal of each. Both nailed it in the two lead roles, Layla and Branch, completely embodying their personalities, as well as their every emotion, which they conveyed in their performance. They set the ideal tone for the story and handled the witty dialogue and banter effortlessly. These two are entertaining storytellers, and their riveting performance keeps you glued to the story.

In this brother's best friend sports romance, Layla and her best friend, Poppy, head up to her family's lake house, not realizing that her pro football player brother, Finn, is already there with his best friend, Branch. Poppy and Finn have history, and Layla and Branch have an instant attraction. Sneaking around behind her brother's back, Layla and Branch hook up, multiple times on multiple surfaces, leading to consequences they didn't anticipate.

The duet narration on this book is fantastic and I really enjoyed both narrators' performances.

Generally, I enjoy a surprise pregnancy story, and this one hit most of the main beats. I enjoyed their initial weekend together and seeing the moments where they connected on an emotional as well as physical level. Where the story lost some appeal for me was in the way Branch thinks about women. I also didn't love his reaction when Layla told him about the pregnancy. I really liked both Finn and Poppy and would love to read more about them.

Easy listen, great narration

Fun and Flirty, this book by Adriana Locke is sure to make you smile. But not only does it have the fun banter between characters and incredible chemistry, it has a story line that has depth. The ensemble cast of Layla, Branch, Poppy and Finn brings so much to the table. Layla has been in several failed relationships with athletes and has no interest in starting another. When at her family cabin with her brother, she has no idea that his friend and teammate will change her world. Branch, a wide receiver, has no interest in having a relationship. Being a football player on the road constantly, he knows the lifestyle that the players have and the toll it takes on commitments. What happens next between this couple is some hot, no-ties fun and a future of surprise and self awareness. One of the books in the Expose series, we are treated to several "news reports" of this couple and you can only imagine the results of the articles. Locke has the talent to take a light and carefree story that will grab your heart and still have that underlying depth. The perfect weekend read.

Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott are amazing no matter the book they read. For this story, Wen is perfect. He is able to give the male characters that masculine feel, but still have the emotional pull. Kai brings the slight angst to her women, and is able to portray the strength and passion that they have. Love this team and always look forward to their narrations.
