This is a very cosy book about a guy who finds himself in a generic fantasy world with his dog. There isn't a lot of conflict or violence, and the ecchi content is kept to a minimum. It's also well performed by the voice actor, if a little slow. This is the first title I've ever played a book on 1.2 speed.

Now truthfully, this book is VERY generic. The characters are all archetypes, and there's very little drama or tension. The characters accept Takumi and Leo immediately and this first novel reads like a guy settling in to his new home. Like I say It's cosy, but there's little to recommend over the glut of isekai light novels out there. UNLESS YOU'RE A DOG LOVER (Like me). Leo, a Maltese reborn as giant Silver Fenris, steals the show and I'm considering buying the manga adaptation just so I can see Leo being all cute.

If you're just after a battle isekai this isn't what you're after. If you're after an ecchi harem isekai, look elsewhere. If you're looking for an easy going isekai this might scratch the itch. If you're also a dog lover, then this may well be what you're looking for. I'm not likely to immediately follow up with volume 2 right away, but I can see myself dipping in and out of it while playing with my own little fenris.

A cosy isekai for dog lovers
