Summary

OUR MOST NOTORIOUS CRIMINALS HAVE HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT.
UNTIL NOW...

'Emily' is a devoted single mother.

'Jack' starts a new job in a new town.

They both share the same secret:
neither of them are who they say they are.

They are among only nine criminals in the UK who have been granted lifelong anonymity, for their own safety, because of their terrible crimes.

But what if someone exposed their true identities to the families of their victims, who are desperate for revenge?

Probation officer Olivia Campbell is caught in the crossfire of this crisis - and as the search for the mole behind it all intensifies, so too does the hunt for the vigilante killers let loose by the leaks...

RIGHT OR WRONG?
CRIMINAL OR VICTIM?
REDEMPTION OR REVENGE?

This novel is based around young offenders, having committed heinous crimes, getting a second chance back in society with anonymity. It raises questions about whether these young offenders are able to be rehabilitated. We see families who’s loved ones were the victims, being given the true identities of these offenders. What will they do with this information? And is vigilantism ever the right thing to do?
There were a lot of characters introduced quickly which took some concentration. But the short chapters kept the story going at a fast pace & it was a page turner. Kept me gripped & wanting to know more. I don’t like the idea of such serious offenders being able to attempt a new life but also don’t agree with vigilantism. It does start a difficult conversation. How do we deal with these children who commit these crimes? And are we handling it the right way? Really glad I listened to this book. These narrator was brilliant!

Not my normal go to genre, but wow what a thought provoker.. where do we all sit on the moral code? A great performance by the narrator and a powerful and compelling story told from all sides.

Powerful and a reflection on today’s society

Excellent story, well narrated. Thought provoking book about morality, justice and mob rule. Not an easy listen in places.

A good book that is very different to the usual crime thrillers! Made me really think.....some of the probationers I was on their side, others deserved their fate!
Great narration that made each character easy to distinguish & kept me interested! Worth a listen!!

Thought provoking!

This has both a dark and thought provoking plot.
It’s a tricky subject to deal with and difficult to decide who to sympathise with at times.
I did really enjoy it though.
Really good narration.
