About this listen

When pressure from his materialistic children turns Claude into a thief, it is down to his youngest daughter to set things right. Angelique agrees to take her father’s place as prisoner to what she is told is a hideous beast.

Angelique soon discovers that the so-called beast is nothing more than Rosalie, a princess cursed to remain trapped in a castle, unless the curse can be broken, something she assures her is impossible.

Angelique does not believe in the impossible, and sets about trying to find a way to save her new friend, who she is rapidly growing to love.

Eye of the Beholder is the first in a series of queer fairy-tale retellings in C H Clepitt’s Magic Mirror collection.

A fascinating quick listen. Great narration. I enjoyed the prologue and epilogue it made the story feel immersive, like I was listening to a tale told around a campfire.

Intriguing

I was lucky enough to have read this story as a beta reader so was looking forward to listening to it and I was not disappointed. The story itself is a great twist on beauty and the beast with a nice lesbian twist and the narrator brought it to life so well

Brilliant story

I'm rather impressed with this queer retelling of Beauty and the Beast. It retains the flavour of the classic romantic story that we all know, and it's retold through a modern way of looking at things that we can relate to. I enjoyed it.

It's a really short audiobook at 1 hour 28 minutes, so it's good for people who like to finish their audiobooks in one sitting. The narrator took some getting used to at first, but I kinda realise that it's a perfect voice for fairytale storytelling and not so much the lesfic storytelling that I'm more used to.
